Students at CSMS are enjoying a new piece of technology in their math classes.
The Senteo Interactive Response System is designed to be used in conjunction with a SMARTBoard and the Smart Tech Notebook Software for interactive student assessment and interaction. It includes a radio frequency (RF) remote for each student in the class, a central receiver, Notebook Software, and Senteo Assessment Software, which tallies student responses, records attendance, posts test results and provides individual feedback.

The system was supplied to CSMS through a grant by Southwestern Energy Company and will be shared by CSMS math teachers.
The Senteo interactive response system is designed to enhance interactive teaching and learning. With it, questions may be displayed or spoken; students anonymously key in answers with their remote, and responses are tallied, then displayed on a projection screen or interactive whiteboard. Tallying and displaying results occurs immediately.
Kim Hughes, who teaches 8th Grade Math and Algebra I at Carl Stuart says, "The students have become much more engaged in the review and the results of tests since I have been using the Senteo."
To assess student understanding, a variety of question types are available, including true or false, multiple choice, numeric response and more-than-one-right-answer. Decimals, fractions and negative numbers can also be incorporated into questions and answers. Feedback can be displayed in a bar graph or pie chart that statistically summarizes the student responses.

Thank You! to Southwestern Energy Company from the students and math teachers of CSMS.
