Weekly Roundup from Mr. Lewis PDF Print E-mail

Let me begin by thanking everyone for your cooperation and patience with the early dismissal on Monday.  I was off campus because it was a treatment day for Adam at Children's Hospital.  I had great peace of mind that students, parents and staff would show great patience and cooperation so that everyone could get home safely.

We had our annual Christmas Sing-a-Long this morning and it was fantastic as usual.  Every child was able to showcase his/her musical talents, and it really got us in the mood!  I was also able to pass along the thank you letter from Arkansas Children's Hospital for the generous donation of toys to the Hemotology/Oncology Clinic on behalf of Adam's Army.  Words can not express the joy that a toy closet visit brings to a sick child after a treatment day, or hospital stay.  Again, thanks for the immense support that each of you has shown for the Lewis Family and Arkansas Children's Hospital.

I hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful Christmas Break.  On behalf of the Jim Stone Staff, I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.  We will see you in 2009!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

Mark Lewis

Each year Jim Stone Elementary third graders take a trip to practice their bowling skills. This year the classes who brought in the most food items for the Turkey Trot and the fourth grade helpers were treated to an afternoon of fun.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving and that you had plenty of quality time with family.  It's that time of the year that seems to move by very quickly.  Christmas Break will begin after school on December 19th, and students return on January 6th.   There will be no early release on December 19th.

It is also that time of the year that illness really begins to be on the increase.  Please remember that it is district policy that students must be fever and symptom free for 24 hours without the assistance of any medications before returning to school.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.  Maybe we can get through the cold and flu season with minimal illness and absenteeism.
