April Fools' Day at Theodore Jones Elementary School was a day students there won't soon forget!
When students arrived to school, things seemed the same, yet they were different. All staff were randomly assigned to another job for the first 30 minutes of the day. They went in and actually did the real job that staff member would do. They insisted they were that person, even wearing the other person's name tag and answering to their names.
Office Para professional, Ms. Scherrey was Ms. Toney the custodian and cleaned the cafeteria after breakfast.
Mr. Jarmal, the custodian, taught first grade. He did a math lesson with the students.
The kids loved it and had lots of questions.
Principal Tammy Woosley says this was a fun time that also had purpose.
"Some students just thought the person was covering their class, while others questioned why they were there. Even though this was fun for our kids and they loved having someone new, it was also a chance for staff members to see what others jobs entailed."
The joke ended when "Dr. Woosley" (really Ms. Jones) announced there would be a two hour recess and lunch in their rooms before calling April Fools.
