Students at Ida Burns Elementary participated in a school wide presidential election this week.
To prepare for this momentous occasion, students did a number of things: they learned about the branches of government, the path to the presidency, the job of the president, former presidents, electoral votes, the different political parties, and each of the candidates.
The student news team even had an election vocabulary word each day!
When students arrived at the polling site, they had to submit their voter registration card, and then they entered the booth, cast their electronic vote, and received an "I voted!" Sticker. The stickers were designed by Ida Burns' own 3rd and 4th grade PEAK students.
Once the polling site closed, teachers and staff tallied the votes and had a special news bulletin to share the results!
