All the students from Theodore Jones Elementary School gathered outside their school building this morning to cheer on their "Jones Joggers" as they ran two miles in a milestone accomplishment for their year.
Around 40 third and fourth grade students participated in the Jones Joggers running club this year. They practice after school each week and slowly build up their laps to be able to run the two-mile distance.
Theodore Jones' teachers Brittany Griffith and Danette Dunn sponsor the joggers.
"This day is always my favorite day of the school year," says Griffith. "I love watching our kids show how hard they've worked and that the whole school comes out to cheer on the runners. It's always amazing, but I think this year was our best year yet!"
This year's race was a special event for the school. Runners ran in memory of Dunn's daughter Lauren, who was killed in an accident in 2014.
Every member of the Jones Joggers finished the race, while their classmates cheered. First, Second and Third place male and female finishers received a trophy.
