Students and Teachers at Jim Stone Elementary are celebrating Dr. Suess' birthday this week. They decided to honor the popular author with a book character parade! Students were asked to dress up as their favorite book character, then they invited their parents to watch the fun parade!
Principal Mark Lewis allowed the students to vote on his costume. The winner was "Fancy Nancy."
"My costume was a prime example of what happens when you put your costume choice into the hands of five to 10 year olds in a democratic manner," laughs Lewis "It was great to see all of the contagious laughter, all of the creativity of everyone’s costumes, and to have so many parents present while honoring such a legend, Dr. Seuss. I am confident that this event will grow with each passing year."
The school is also planning "Hat Day" for later in the week, as well as more Seussical activities for the students during their media center time.
