At the beginning of the school year, their teachers asked them to set up classroom expectations and goals.
Their goals were simple: they wanted to change the world.
So their teachers suggested they start right where they live and go to school...with their classmates and their neighbors.
Last week they took a field trip to the Senior Citizens Center to visit with some friends.
"I can say without a doubt that this was the best field trip ever!" says 4th grade teacher Lindsey Jones. "The students' hearts were bursting with joy and so were ours as we watched them!"
The students sang songs, played games, danced, and visited with the members there.
Principal Tammy Woosley was enormously proud of her students and staff.
"At Theodore Jones we know relationship comes before learning or anything else. What was amazing to watch was how each student walked in, never hesitated, and sat with a senior and started talking," said Woosley. "The smiles and laughter were abundant. I guess the quote “A smile has no language” is true across ages too."
