Conway High School Senior Madison Moline is excited about graduating from high school and attending BYU in Utah in the fall. But she'll get to to travel to Beijing, China, first as part of her tour with the National Youth Orchestra this Summer.
Moline will join 113 other youth from around the United States on the National Youth Orchestra Tour. The students will study together in New York for two weeks this summer under the direction of some of the country's finest Orchestra professional players before leaving for their concert tour. The group will perform nine total concerts around the US and then travel to China, where they will visit many of China's greatest concert halls.
"I am honored and super excited to be apart of the NYO this summer. I know I will learn so much from all of the other musicians and the coaches and directors. Since I have never been out of the country, it is a little nerve wracking thinking about so much travel, but I can't wait to perform in the incredible Chinese Performance Halls with the orchestra!! This entire experience so far has been so fun- and I know it will be something that I will never forget! Once I'm done with NYO I will head to Utah and study Viola Performance and Music Education at BYU on a full tuition music scholarship. I am so thankful for the Conway Orch. Program and the community for supporting me and helping me get to where I am today. It's more than I have ever dreamed of!! "
