Members of the Conway High School Soccer Team are rallying around a teammate, hoping to honor her fighting spirit and help her family with medical costs.
A cookout to benefit Morgan McAlexander and her family will be held tonight during the Conway Baseball, Softball, and Soccer Athletic events versus Van Buren. A grill will be set up by the baseball/softball fields and one at the stadium. For $6 you will get a hamburger, bag of chips, and a drink. You can also get desserts from many local vendors for $2 and/or Stoby’s Cheese Dip for $2. All proceeds will go to helping her family. All profits from the concession stand at the soccer games will also go to helping the family. " We are dedicating our season to Morgan and her family. We hope our attitude, work ethic, and style of play will make her and her family proud," says Kevin DeStefano, Girls' Soccer Coach. "If we win, great, but the most important thing is for us to play in a way that will make her and those who love her proud that she is part of our family/team. She has become our inspiration as she fights everyday to get better. We knew Morgan was a fighter but she continues to impress us with her refusal to give up." Morgan was severely injured in a car accident in December. She suffered severe head trauma and had surgery to relieve swelling in her brain. She is now stable and undergoing rehabilitation.
