Parents and Guardians of Ida Burns Elementary Students will enjoy an extra measure of safety for their afternoon car-riders in the school pick-up line this year.
The staff at Ida Burns has created custom QR codes for each student. The code is tied to the child's name and picture, which is stored in a google document accessible only to their teachers. The teachers on duty can scan the code with a hand-held scanner if there is ever a question about who is picking up a child.
"We think this will help a lot with safety and security, especially at a time like this at Ida Burns when our traffic is a little out of sorts." said Brad Cowger, Ida Burns PE Teacher.
Ida Burns will undergo a major building remodel this year which has changed traffic patterns around the school significantly.
The school's activity teachers all worked together to make the new car tags, which parents received at the Teacher "Meet and Greet" before school started.
Assistant Principal Tami Burcham says the new system will be just another way Ida Burns looks to go that extra mile for their students and parents.
"We are excited to use our technology in one more way to help keep kids safe and keep our pickup lines moving smoothly."
