Kids across the ocean, and across the city of Conway are starting the school year with new school supplies, thanks to the kindness of kids at Marguerite Vann Elementary School.
The students at Marguerite Vann worked together on a school wide community service project called Kids Helping Kids. This program, organized by principal Bobby Walker, was designed to help the students understand the value & importance of caring, teamwork and how they can make a difference in the lives of other kids!
The students collected over 2000 school supplies for kids that live in St. Lucia. Mr. Walker teamed up with Spencer Ambrose (a St. Lucian community leader) who got the supplies to the underprivileged children that needed them for the start of the school year. Local donations were also made to the Conway YES! Program and the Pine Street Backpack Program.
"Many business & community leaders partnered with us as well as Miss Arkansas Ambassador Preteen, Claire Lambert." says Vann's Media Specialist Jamille Rogers. "Our school community is excited and eager to see this project succeed. Because of this program, many students are starting their school year off right for the 2015-2016 School Year!"
