Marguerite Vann Elementary School Media Specialist Jamille Rogers has been recognized by Arkansas' State leaders for her recent national award.
Rogers is the first Arkansas recipient of the "I Love my Librarian Award" from the American Library Association, which she received at Carnegie Hall in New York City in November.
Nominated for the award by her principal Bobby Walker, Rogers was commended for her work in starting the school's "Distinguished Gentleman's Club" and also overseeing an "Adopt-A-Grandparent" program at Vann Elementary.
This week, Governor Asa Hutchinson, as well as State Senators and Representatives, congratulated her on this recognition with an official citation from the Arkansas House of Representatives.
Rogers was also invited to speak at the Arkansas Department of Education Board Meeting, sharing her passion for helping students succeed.
"I'm a firm believer that God gives us gifts and talents to bless others," says Rogers. "I am passionate about helping others and I truly believe that is my calling, especially when it comes to children. I'm so glad He chose me as a vessel for my students at Conway Public Schools. I can't wait to see what the future holds for each of them."
