If you've ever wondered what the writers of the Constitution were thinking as they labored over the words, students at Marguerite Vann Elementary had some answers at their first assembly of the school year this morning.
The students hosted special guests State Representatives Steve Magie and David Meeks, as well as Superintendent Dr. Greg Murry for "We love America Day."
Everyone was dressed in red, white, and blue for the special occasion and students enjoyed hearing their legislators share a little about their jobs and why America is such a great place to live and grow up.
The UCA Color Guard also presented the colors at today's assembly.
Today's program showcased all of the things students have been learning about what it means to live in America. They have participated in a tribute to a serviceman, researched the American flag, learned the Star Spangled Banner, analyzed the Constitution, and learned about their individual freedoms.
"We are proud of our students and the learning that has occurred over the past two weeks about our country and our community," says Principal Bobby Walker. "The assembly today was a culminating event displaying the pride of Marguerite Vann students and faculty."
