Raising
As the district grows, we will need additional classroom space. Although we are not certain as to when we will need it, we are certain that there will be the need for another elementary school. The district has already purchased land for the school on Old Military Road.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will the increase in enrollment number have to be to justify building a new elementary?
The exact number that would justify a new elementary school is an uncertain one. We will need to look at the district's overall growth and then more specifically look at the growth in the district K-4. Next, we will plug those numbers into our growth estimator and look at what the long-term effect of the additional students are on the capacity of our elementary schools. If for some reason there are fewer kids in our district or there is just a slight amount of growth, we will obviously not build another building at this time.
Why isn't the new elementary becoming the Pre-K center?
The primary reason is that the state will not contribute funding for the construction of a Pre-K center. They will contribute for an elementary school. The state would be responsible for providing our district several million dollars if we construct an elementary school. The state would give us nothing for a pre-k center.
Where will this be? Why do we need another one?
The location for the new building will be on Old Military Road. It is certain that as Conway continues to grow as a district that additional elementary classroom space will be needed.
Will the district pursue LEED certification for the building?
We will continue to investigate LEED ("Green") certification for this building but whether the certification is actually obtained will be a cost decision.
Ellen Smith is gone (out of old Conway/downtown) and now Sallie Cone is disappearing - "where is our neighborhood elementary school?"
The district is committed to neighborhood schools.
I've heard some people say that the new elementary school will be for Sallie Cone students?
Not necessarily. The location of the property where the new school will be located (on Old Military Road) does not lend itself to the assignment of Sallie Cone students to that campus.
