Gifted and Talented Program

Elementary Students

  • K-4 Enrichment

    Whole Group Enrichment: A certified teacher of gifted education provides direct services to all K-4 students within the Conway School system. Within this option, the certified gifted teacher maintains documentation on student(s) actions/responses. The delivery of services to students is a minimum of 40 minutes a week.

    3-4 Grade Identified Gifted Students (Pinnacle)

    Resource Room Approach: Gifted students participate in a class in which they receive instructional services different from those normally provided in the regular classroom. They have the opportunity to work at the level of their abilities and in their area of interest or talent. Instruction is delivered by certified teachers of the gifted and follows the Frameworks for Gifted Education. Instruction includes but is not limited to creative and critical thinking, research, communication, and affective development. The delivery of services to students is a minimum of 150 minutes a week.

Secondary Students

  • Fifth Grade Seminar

    Resource Room Approach: Gifted students participate in classes in which they receive instructional services different from those normally provided in the regular classroom. They have the opportunity to work at the level of their abilities and instruction includes but is not limited to creative and critical thinking, research, communication, and affective development. Instruction is delivered by certified teachers of gifted and follows the Frameworks for Gifted Education. The delivery of services to students takes the place of a study hall and is a minimum of 150 minutes a week.

    Sixth Grade Language Arts Seminar

    Self-contained classroom Approach: Identified gifted students are provided instructional services different from those normally provided in the regular classroom. Language Arts and Reading instruction is included within this classroom. Students have the opportunity to work at the level of their ability with like peers in a separate classroom. Instruction is delivered by certified teachers of both Gifted and Language Arts and follows the Frameworks for Gifted Education. In addition to the Language Arts and Reading standards outlined by state standards curriculum, instruction includes the implementation of College Board Curriculum standards. The delivery of services to students is a minimum of 150 minutes a week

    Seventh Grade 

    Special Class Approach and Pull-Out Seminar: Pre-AP and Accelerated courses are offered as a service for identified gifted students.  The Seminar Course (Due to Covid, this option may take place through the Google Classroom)offers subject matter fields not normally offered in the junior high school course content. Identified students receive instruction from a certified gifted teacher for 40 to 80 minutes each month. Instruction includes but not limited to argumentative studies, leadership development, affective development, and test prep. 

    Eight-Twelfth Grade Seminar

    Special Class Approach and Pull-Out Seminar: Pre-AP and Accelerated courses are offered as a service for identified gifted students.  This Seminar Course (Due to Covid, this option may take place through the Google Classroom) offers subject matter fields not normally offered in the high school course content. Identified students receive instruction from a certified gifted teacher for 40 to 80 minutes each month. Instruction includes but not limited to argumentative studies, leadership development, affective development, and test prep.
