The philosophy of gifted education in Conway Public Schools speaks to the needs of "every child” aligning to the district’s motto “every child, every day, whatever it takes”. Therefore, the district determines to provide for the development of the capabilities of those students who possess a high level of cognitive skills, creative and critical thinking, and affective capabilities. The contribution these students make to society is directly related to the extent they realize their potential by being challenged.

Conway Public Schools Gifted Programs create opportunities for individuals to be innovative thinkers and problem solvers. Students need to develop the skills, attitudes, and the motivation that will help them become self-directed and independent learners. The gifted and talented educator’s role ranges from being a dispenser of knowledge to one who facilitates learning. The teacher creates a learning environment that allows students to pursue interests, foster self-development,encourage peer relations, and explore careers. 

• To foster creativity, talent development, and self-generating, problem-solving abilities to expand each student's awareness of choices for satisfying contributions to society
• To support the social and emotional needs of gifted students in order to help students develop healthy self-concepts, increase commitment to personal 
  responsibility and responsibility towards others, and cultivate sensitivity and constructive ethical standards
• To encourage and model respect for the full range of diversity among individuals with gifts and talents: cultural, socio-economic, language, and
  double-labeled
• To foster participation in challenging Advanced Placement courses by introducing, in earlier grades, the skills, concepts and habits of mind 
  needed for success in rigorous courses.
• To address the needs of underachieving Gifted and Talented students
• To assure consistent participation of parents and community members in the planning and evaluation or programs for gifted students
• To provide professional development opportunities related to gifted education to administrators, teachers, and counselors to support and improve 
  educational opportunities for gifted students
• To provide an equitable, comprehensive, and ongoing identification process that adheres to the current state criteria
