Sam Huskey

Sam Huskey has been teaching choral music in the the state of Arkansas for more than 20 years. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Williams Baptist University in Walnut RIdge, Arkansas and his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas.  Mr. Huskey's choirs have consistently earned superior ratings in stage performance and sight singing at the region and state level.  Under his direction, Conway HS Choirs earned two "Best in Class" honors, including the "Best in Class - Overall 7A" in 2017.  He has had multiple students placed in all-region, all-state, and SWACDA honor choirs.  His choirs have performed at Toad Suck Daze, the Arkansas State Capitol, Walt Disney World, the Arkansas All-State Music Conference, and the Southwest Division of the American Choral Directors Association Conference.  He was named "Distinguished Director" by his peers at the Junior High (2010) and Senior High (2013) level.  He has served as the President of the Arkansas chapter of NAfME (National Association for Music Education) and is currently the Mentor Chair for Region 4 of the Arkansas Choral Directors Association.

Kayla White

Kayla White has been the Choral Director at Conway Junior High since 2014, where she chairs the Fine Arts Department and teaches 8th and 9th grade Vocal Music as well as a Classic Rock Music course.

Before accepting the position at Conway, Mrs. White taught in Colorado and Northwest Arkansas. She holds a B.A. in Piano Performance, a B.M. in Music Education, and an M.M in Music Theory from the University of Central Arkansas. During her tenure at Conway Junior High, her choirs have consistently received Superior ratings at Choral Performance Assessment, and CJHS students have been selected to both AR-ACDA and SWACDA Honor Choirs as well as top chairs in annual Region competitions.

An active member in Arkansas’ professional choral directors' community, she has served as the Tenor/Bass Repertoire and Resource Chair for AR-ACDA and Junior High Section Chair for ArkCDA. She is a frequent clinician and accompanist for Region and State clinics and assists with honor choir rehearsals for state and national conventions. In 2018, she was honored to be chosen as the Region 2 Junior High Director of the Year.

Emily Wood

Emily Garren is the choir director at Ruth Doyle Middle School. A Minnesota native, she received her Bachelor’s in Secondary Vocal Music Education from Arkansas State University in 2015 and taught in Denver area schools for 3 years. She is currently earning her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Arkansas University.

She has enjoyed teaching in Conway Public Schools since 2018, and loves to make music with her students!

Kerry Hymas

Mrs. Hymas is the choir director at Carl Stuart Middle School. She has been teaching 6th and 7th grade choir at CSMS since 2012. Mrs. Hymas earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas, and her Masters's Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.

Under the direction of Mrs. Hymas, the CSMS Choir has performed at Toad Suck Daze, Dickey Stephens Park, CPSD Hall of Honor Gala, the State Capitol, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and the 2018 Virco National Sales Meeting. Mrs. Hymas was CSMS Teacher of the Year in 2017 and loves teaching for Conway Public Schools. She strives to ignite a passion for singing and loves making music with her students.

Sarah Henry

Sarah Henry is the Choral Director and General Music Teacher at Simon Middle School. A native Texan, she grew up in South Arkansas and received her Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music (K-12) from Ouachita Baptist University. She holds a Master of Arts in Church and Community Ministry from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She was previously a Vocal Music Specialist for Fort Worth ISD and created and directed a nonprofit arts and education program for students in Jackson, Mississippi. 

Mrs. Henry has 2 children in Conway Public Schools and enjoys creating beautiful music with her middle schoolers at Simon!

Baylee Shaw
