Kathie Houston

Ms. Kathie Houston has been a counselor at Conway High School for more than 25 years. Before becoming a counselor, she enjoyed coaching basketball and track, as well, as being a juvenile probation officer for a year. The experiences through these jobs confirmed that her mother’s advice was correct when she had encouraged her to become a counselor. Her passion is serving young people and helping to provide hope to those who are hurting. She earned her education degree from Arkansas State University and her counselor degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Ms Houston’s greatest joy is being the proud mother to two grown children who graduated from Conway High School and live in Conway. She has additional blessings of a special daughter-in-law, two grand dogs that she typically spends weekends with, and a stray cat that adopted her. She enjoys visiting her hometown of Calico Rock and fishing on the White River. Even if the fish aren’t biting, the beauty of floating the river, the bluffs, and seeing an eagle soar are the best therapy she finds.
