COVID Prevention
-
While the strongest defense against COVID is vaccinations, national and state health officials stress that mask wearing is also a viable strategy for slowing the spread and subsequent quarantine of our students. CPSD strongly encourages mask wearing, especially for non-vaccinated individuals.
Important Parent Reminders
-
Please call your child's school if...
- Your student tests positive for COVID-19
- Someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19
- Your student was exposed to someone outside of school who tests positive for COVID-19
- Your student tests positive for COVID-19
Also Remember...
-
- If your student is tested for COVID, you may not send them to school while awaiting the test results.
-
If a parent or household member is COVID-positive, please keep your child home from school.
-
With COVID or any illness, your child must be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
- If your child is quarantined for an outside exposure to COVID (exposed while not in school), please bring the appropriate documentation to the school nurse when your child returns to school.
- If your student is tested for COVID, you may not send them to school while awaiting the test results.
Message to Parents- 2/2/22
-
In accordance with new state guidance, CPSD will no longer require quarantines for students who have been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. These new protocols begin immediately. If your student is currently quarantined and has not developed symptoms, they may return to school.
Protocols for positive cases of COVID-19 remain the same- If your student tests positive, they will be required to stay home for 5 days from the onset of symptoms, and be required to wear a mask for 5 days upon return to school.
Masks are strongly encouraged, but no longer required, unless your student is returning after testing positive. The district will continue to monitor and report active cases, and make any future necessary adjustments as needed.
As always, please reach out to your child’s school with any specific questions you may have.
CPSD Revised COVID Protocols (effective 2/3/22)
-
CPSD has received revised guidance for COVID protocols in our schools. Beginning Thursday February 3rd, the following changes will be made in CPSD:
If your student tests positive for COVID…they must stay home/isolate for at least 5 days.
- They may return to school on day 6 if (1) they have no symptoms or symptoms are resolving (fever free for 24 hours without the help of medication) and (2) they wear a mask at school through the 10th day.
- Parents may choose to keep COVID-positive students home from school for the full 10 days if desired.
Probable close contacts of positive cases are no longer required to quarantine, as long as they do not develop symptoms.
If you have specific questions about your child’s status, please contact your child’s school.
CPSD 2021-22 COVID Information

Mitigation Efforts
- The district will use cleaning and sanitation protocols to prevent COVID spread. (These have been in place since 2020.)
- The district will follow health and safety protocols set by the AR Department of Health. (Students must be fever/symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school, etc.).
- The district will provide excused absences for students who are out due to COVID or quarantine with appropriate documentation. Students will be allowed to keep up with work while out and make-up work when they return to school.
- Visitors to campus will be limited to specific, education-related purposes. (ex. parent conference) This does not apply to voluntary events such as Meet the Teacher Night, athletic events, music concerts, etc.
AAA COVID Guidelines for Student Athletes - CPSD athletes will continue to follow AAA Return to Play Protocol.
Other Procedures - The district will be able to use virtual learning strategies if a school has to close temporarily; furthermore, individual students who have to isolate will access instruction via the learning management system.
- The district will encourage families to notify the school if their student has been fully vaccinated. Nurses have a way to verify this information in the state vaccination database in possible quarantine situations.
- The district will provide information to families about where they can get vaccinated, along with other parent resources, on our website.
- The district will proactively and continuously communicate with parents/families regarding changes or new developments during this school year.
- Individuals waiting on COVID test results should remain at home until test results are confirmed.
At-Home Protocols for Students - All CPSD students will have a district-issued chromebook and assignments will be posted on Seesaw (K-4) and Schoology (5-12) for students.
- There will not be Zooms, live teaching, or meetings with teachers.
- These will be make-up assignments similar to what is used for inclement weather days or when students miss school for a non-covid-related illness.
Contingency Actions - Decisions to close a school or the district will be made in conjunction with guidance from the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- CPSD will continue to monitor/follow state guidance as provided.
