Remediation and Enrichment Skill Support Packets for May 30-June 1
During the partial week after Memorial Day, we will be providing remediation and enrichment skill support to students who are in attendance on those days. This will be an opportunity to address skill gaps and provide enrichment support to students in order to offset the summer slide. We will do these with paper packets of skill-based materials for students who are present on those days

    SHOUT-OUTS
    - Congratulations to the CSMS Band, Choir, and Orchestra groups for providing such wonderful spring performances last week. We are blessed to have amazing programs and such talented students. Our directors (Mrs. Cook, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Greenawalt, Mrs. Wood, Mr. Gardner, and Mr. Buck) are exceptional in leading these programs. Great work!

-A special shout-out to our Yearbook Committee who provided a stellar yearbook this year. Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Jimerson, and Mrs. Clark led this committee and even some student council members, particularly Zenna D., managed the structure and layout. Great work, Yearbook Committee!

-The talent show was a hit! Thanks to Mrs. Greenawalt and those teachers who helped judge the talent to put together a fantastic show. Great job to Hugh L. for serving as master of ceremonies and for all the wonderful students who participated and showcased their talents. Bravo to all involved!

-Friday’s KudoCATS Behavior Bash was epic! Mrs. Tyler and the KudoCATS committee did an extraordinary job planning and organizing an event that gave students something fun to do all day long. I heard so many compliments from students and from parent volunteers. Special thanks to Mrs. Tyler, Mrs. Hunter, the Student Council, and all others who served on the KudoCATS Committee to coordinate and plan this event. Way to go!

Fifth graders! We want YOU to be involved in the Conway music program next year! Joining band, choir, or orchestra is a great way to learn to sing or play an instrument, make new friends, and be an important part of a team. You’ll be seeing us perform at school later this week! Once counselors send home course selection information, simply choose band, choir, or orchestra and we will get you plugged in! Choir students already have their instrument – their voice – but are welcome to visit with the choir director at their school. New band and orchestra students will receive info later this Spring about trying out the instruments. We want you to JOIN MUSIC!

    ATHLETIC
    January 30 @ 4:30pm–Boys & Girls Basketball vs. Courtway @ Courtway

    SHOUT-OUTS
-The D3 Group received a visit from Mr. Vincent Hunter during its meeting this past week. Mr. Hunter played basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2003-2008 and played overseas and in the NBA. He even wrote a children’s book, “Jr. And His Basketball Dreams.” Thank you, Mr. Hunter, for sacrificing your time to meet with the D3 group and for inspiring young people everywhere to dream big and persevere to achieve them.

-Thank you to Dr. Patty Phelps for sacrificing time to assist Mrs. Rehm as a library volunteer. Dr. Phelps is no stranger to our school, as she has been here many times in her former role as an education professor at UCA and is known to some as the “Rock Fairy.” Dr. Phelps is always looking out for our campus since she lives in the neighborhood across the street and walks our campus on a daily basis. Thank you, Dr. Phelps, for everything you do to help our campus!

-Congratulations to Mrs. Sheila Dean for being recognized as a CPS Foundation Teacher of the Week this past week. Mrs. Dean was recognized by a former parent for her support of both of her children when they came through CSMS. It is such a joy to see when parents and students recognize the impact teachers have on their lives. Great work, Mrs. Dean!

Congratulations to our 6th and 7th Grade Choir Ensemble groups for a wonderful Christmas performance at the Capitol. This team represented our school well during their performance. Our school received a phone call from someone who works at the Capitol who gave our school glowing remarks for the performance and the students' respectful behavior. Great work group and to Mrs. Greenawalt who directed and supported these students and Mrs. Buddenberg who drove the bus. Special thanks to our parent chaperones who helped supervise during the event.

Great work to our KudoCATS Committee for putting together the Winter Bash activities. Our students had a blast at each of the activities, but we know the planning and coordination takes a huge effort. From bounce houses to concessions and everything in between and around, the day was filled with lots of fun! Thanks to the Committee and to everyone who had a hand in helping, especially the Student Council for arranging concessions.

CSMS Families: Are you interested in helping volunteer at some of our school events? The CSMS administration in coordination with the CSMS PTO has established a process for securing volunteer support. Anyone who would like to volunteer at school events will be required to complete this initial interest form (https://forms.gle/MP4MaZsyLJjL95qA8). The CSMS admin will screen the initial interest forms to determine whether the volunteers are parents/guardians of active CSMS students OR if they are other family members that have approval by the parents and guardians of associated students. All volunteers must be 18 years old and associated with a current student in the school. Once the initial interest form is approved, those patrons will then be given a state background check form and be required to complete that form and return it with $10 in cash or check made out to the PTO so that a background screening can be completed.

Good luck to both our teams as they start their season right after Thanksgiving! The first home game is against RDMS @ CSMS on Thursday, Dec 1.

Congratulations to Mrs. Starla Hunter for being recognized as the CSMS Teacher of the Month for October. Mrs. Hunter does so much to support our students. • CSMS Volunteers

Once that form and payment is returned and the background check is approved, the patron will then be designated as an approved CSMS volunteer. District employees and active substitutes for Kelly Services are exempt from this process as the background check has already been completed.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please complete the initial interest form (https://forms.gle/MP4MaZsyLJjL95qA8), which will initiate the approval process.

Great work to our 7th Grade Boys Football team for a convincing win against Cabot North Red this past Monday. Coach Lampe and Coach Reed have been working hard with this team, and they are having a nearly perfect season. Catch them in action while you still can. Only three games left…with the last two being against hometown rivals, Courtway and Ruth Doyle respectively. Keep up the good streak team!

  • CSMS: Immunizations

    Parents and Guardians,

Please make sure your child is up-to-date with immunizations. If your child is 11 years old, he/she needs the Tdap and MCV immunizations. If your child is entering the 7th grade, the MCV immunization is required. The deadline for these is Sept. 1. Your child will not be able to return to school until these requirements are met. This is a state law. Local pharmacies, the health department, and the Wampus Cat Clinic all offer immunizations. Please send a copy of your child's updated shot record to Nurse Siegel at siegelh@conwayschools.net or bring it to the school. Thank you!
