Farmers and food service workers at healthy flavors farm

October is National Farm to School month! The National Farm to School Network along with Healthy Flavors Arkansas in Conway recently hosted an event that promises to bring fresh, locally sourced produce to the students in the Conway School district. The event, attended by Sharon Burgess, Food Service Supervisor, and Maegan Brown, Food Service Coordinator, of Conway along with staff members from Senator Boozman's office marked a significant step towards connecting schools with local farmers and food producers. Conway Schools was thrilled to be part of this event which aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing wholesome, locally sourced ingredients for our students while supporting our local agriculture community. This collaboration will help offer fresh grown romaine and spinach in the upcoming weeks to the Conway Public School District.

Our very own CPSD Food Service Coordinator , Maegan Brown, attended the International Fresh Produce Association Conference in Washington, DC where she met with members of Congress and USDA to advocate for increased funding to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables along with passing legislation to support serving school meals at no charge for all students.

CPSD is beyond grateful for the impact that our Food Service Department is making to provide the best for all of our students.
