The Southwest Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association takes pride in representing and serving the vibrant choral communities of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The mission at ACDA is to foster excellence and cultivate a lifelong passion for choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, students from Conway participated in a rigorous blind audition process, competing against nearly 2,000 applicants from across seven states for the honor of performing at the Southwest Division of the American Choral Directors Association (SWACDA) in Denver, Colorado in early March. These exceptional students, representing Carl Stuart Middle School under the guidance of Choir Director Victoria Greenawalt, Conway Junior High led by Choir Director Kayla White, and Conway High School directed by Sam Huskey, showcased their exceptional skills and unwavering commitment as they auditioned for esteemed graded honor choirs.
Among the vast pool of auditionees, thirteen remarkable students from Conway were celebrated for securing coveted spots in these prestigious national honor choirs. Representing Carl Stuart Middle School, we applaud Savannah Mills, Isabella Bryant, Violet Riggs, Lily Robinson, and Presley Rimlinger. From Conway Junior High, our commendations go to Ainsley Barnett, Addison Roth, Jamya Scott, Jack Sturdivant, and Emerie Thurow. Lastly, from Conway High School, we commend Kaylee Francis, Gabriella Stanford, and Callie Roth for their outstanding achievements. These students were selected through a blind audition process, wherein recordings of scales and prepared vocal works were submitted for evaluation.
Following their selection, these talented individuals dedicated themselves to intensive rehearsals from Wednesday through Saturday morning, culminating in a captivating performance on that Saturday afternoon. The Conway Public School district takes great pride in the remarkable achievements of these students, as well as the dedication and guidance provided by the Conway Choir Directors throughout this journey.
