Conway, AR — August 18, 2026 — Conway High School (CHS) has earned a “Best Schools” award in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings. CHS is now 35th in Arkansas and 2,879th nationally. Conway currently stands at the 84th percentile nationally.
Data Highlights
AP Participation & Success: The percentage of students taking at least one Advanced Placement (AP) exam was 49%, while AP pass rates rose from 28% to 31%.
Graduation Rate: CHS saw stability in graduation rates at 91%.
Areas of Focus
The district’s commitment to strong core academic instruction and focus on reading, math, and science proficiency as part of its ongoing strategic improvement plan has resulted in Conway High School experiencing significant gains in 10th grade reading as recently as this year. Congratulations to our new interventionists who recently completed their Take Flight Year 1 training, embarking on a rigorous two-year professional learning program developed by the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children. Grounded in the science of reading, this training equips interventionists with the knowledge and skills to provide explicit, systematic, and multisensory structured literacy instruction for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. Their dedication to advancing their expertise strengthens Conway Public Schools’ commitment to evidence-based literacy practices and expands the district’s capacity to ensure every student receives the specialized support needed to become a successful, lifelong reader.

As students and staff return to school for another year, let’s all do our part in keeping safety at the forefront of our minds at school, at home, and on the road.
· Watch for school buses. Slow down and never pass a stopped school bus with its lights flashing.
· Drive safely in school zones. Slow down, pay attention, and watch carefully for students, parents, crossing guards, and school staff.
· Stay alert. It only takes a few seconds of distraction to change a life forever.
· School safety starts when we leave our homes. It doesn’t just depend on what happens inside our school buildings.
Let’s work together to ensure every student and staff member arrives at school and returns home Safe and Sound.

Welcome New Conway School Board Members!
The Conway Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting tonight Friday, August 7th, 2026 for Personnel Approval and Board Member Candidate Interviews for the open At-Large Board position.
During the meeting, a motion was made to approve all resignations and elections; however, the decision regarding the Part-Time Finance position will be postponed until the Regular School Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The Board Member Candidate Interviews started with Zone 4 Board position with the only candidate being Ms. Mary Lajeunesse. The School Board made a motion to appoint Ms. Mary Lajeunesse for the Zone 4 School Board Member position.
The School Board made a motion to appoint Dr. Matthew White, out of 7 candidates, for the Zone at Large School Board Member position.

We are incredibly excited to have 9 new communication boards installed at 9 elementary schools! These boards help students of all abilities communicate, connect, and play together on the playground, creating more inclusive spaces for every student.
This project was made possible through the generosity, hard work, and partnership of an amazing group of community organizations. From building the boards to installing them with augers and concrete in the Arkansas heat, this team made it happen!
