Conway, AR — August 22, 2025 — Conway High School (CHS) has made remarkable strides in academic performance and national recognition, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings. In just one year, CHS has moved up to 26th in Arkansas and 2,391st nationally, improving from 37th in the state and 3,057th nationwide in 2024–25. This improvement raises Conway’s standing from the 83rd percentile to the 87th in the nation.

Academic Gains

  • AP Participation & Success: The percentage of students taking at least one Advanced Placement (AP) exam increased from 47% to 51%, while AP pass rates rose from 24% to 28%.

  • Graduation Rate: CHS saw a significant improvement in graduation rates, climbing from 88% to 91%.

  • Reading Proficiency: Reading proficiency improved slightly, moving from 59% to 60%, maintaining a strong performance above state averages.

Areas of Focus

While CHS demonstrated progress in many areas, the school continues to focus on strengthening math and science proficiency, which saw slight declines this year. Mathematics proficiency shifted from 39% to 30%, and science from 40% to 37%. These results highlight the district’s commitment to targeted support in STEM learning as part of its ongoing improvement plan.

“These results reflect the effort, intentionality, and dedication of our students, teachers, and leaders at Conway High School,” said Mr. Black, Interim Superintendent of Conway Public Schools. “We are proud of the growth in AP participation and graduation rates, and we are committed to supporting continuous improvement in all areas. Dr. Worley and the CHS Teachers and Staff continue to demonstrate why we are among the leading high schools in Arkansas.”

“At Conway High School, we are focused on expanding opportunities for all students,” said Dr. Bryce Bennett, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. “That means continuing to promote Advanced Placement courses, recruiting students from underserved populations, and ensuring the right supports are in place so more students can succeed.”

The upward trajectory in national and state rankings underscores Conway High School’s growing reputation for preparing students for college and career success.
