K students (only) may be walked to class by parents 7:45-8:00 on Monday. On your way out, we hope you'll stop by our PTO Kinder Parent Coffee Bar in our counselor's classroom. Please remember that our back parking lot is for teacher parking and school bus and day care van loading & unloading only. All Vann car riders should be dropped off in the front of the school in the morning, and picked up at the front of the school in the afternoon. Thank you to those parents who were able to accompany their students to call this morning for the first day of school! It was great to see you! Now that we've had a chance to practice our routines, all Vann students are ready to walk into the building independently tomorrow, Tuesday, August 20. We will have extra staff ready at the front of the school for students who need help finding their way. #beincredible

Five more days until school begins! Tonight is our Open House event and we can't wait to see you! You'll be receiving important paperwork this evening and throughout the first week of school. Please be sure to complete and return to school promptly. This ensures that we have your student's most current contact, transportation, and health information. We also need one or more emergency contacts for each student. If at any point in the school year your information changes, be sure to contact your child's teacher and/or our office. Day 6 of our 10 day countdown to the first day of school is all about staying informed. Be sure to sign up for Rooms, our school-to-home electronic communication tool. In addition, we hope you'll watch for our monthly family newsletter, The Viking Voice, published the first day of each month on Facebook and our website. Keeping your phone number and email address up to date with us will facilitate timely & efficient communication regarding your student. Finally, your student will bring home a purple school-to-home communication folder in their backpack each day. Check it regularly for important papers and news and use this folder to send messages to your child's teacher!

Eight days to go until school starts! The store aisles are filled with school supplies, but there's no need to worry about that! Vann will once again be providing supplies for all students. Families will need to send students to school with a backpack each day, and may need a lunch box or bag if their student will be bringing lunch from home.

We know that the construction currently taking place on Salem Road will affect our school traffic this year. There are two important CHANGES we want you to be aware of:
Please anticipate longer travel times around Vann/Carl Stuart this year. Plan your travel route ahead of time taking current closures into account, and get an EARLY START for drop off and pick up.
In the afternoons, we will line up Vann traffic on BOTH SIDES of Carl Stuart Road and alternate entry into the Vann car loop. Officer Slayton & Mrs. New will assist in directing traffic to the proper locations.
The following traffic patterns will remain the SAME:
Car rider drop off and pick up is at the FRONT of the building only. The back parking lot is for bus drop off and pick up only.
Carl Stuart Road is ONE WAY traveling west (toward Salem) during drop off and pick up times.
Access to Carl Stuart Road during drop off and pick up is via HUBBARD ROAD.
AM Drop off for car riders: 7:30-7:58 (tardy bell rings at 8:00)
PM Pick up for car riders: 3:15-3:35
