Conway Public School District Hosts First Champion Circle Community Meeting

CONWAY, ARKANSAS – On October 17, 2023, the Conway Public School District (CPSD) successfully hosted its first Champion Circle Community Meeting at Bob Courtway Middle School, bringing together families, educators, and community members to engage in an insightful dialogue about the district's achievements, goals, and future initiatives.

The event, organized by CPSD, was attended by families primarily from Bob Courtway Middle School, as well as Ellen Smith Elementary and Florence Mattison Elementary. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Collum delivered a compelling presentation that spotlighted the outstanding accomplishments taking place throughout the district. The presentation encompassed essential aspects of the district, including enrollment statistics, demographic data, and school finances, offering a comprehensive overview of CPSD's current state.

Highlighting the District's vision and mission, Dr. Collum emphasized their alignment with a strategic plan being collaboratively developed by the School Board and district leaders. The meeting provided an opportunity for families to gain deeper insights into the CPSD's direction and how they can contribute to its continued success.

One of the most engaging segments of the meeting was the question-and-answer session that followed the presentation. Several directors, as well as Dr. Collum himself, addressed thought-provoking questions posed by the attending families. This interactive exchange fostered transparency and facilitated a productive conversation between the district's leadership and the community it serves.

Notable guests at the Champion Circle Community Meeting included members of the Conway School Board, district leaders, and dedicated CPSD families who are deeply invested in the success of their students.

Looking forward, the CPSD community can anticipate more engaging sessions. The next meeting, scheduled for November 15, 2023, will be a District-Wide Champion Circle held at the Conway High School Cafeteria, commencing at 6:00 PM and concluding at 7:00 PM. In addition, several smaller Champion Circles are planned to ensure that the voices of all stakeholders are heard. These include:

  • November 28, 2023, at Carl Stuart Middle School (featuring feeder elementary schools Carolyn Lewis, Jim Stone, and Marguerite Vann).

  • February 27, 2024, at Simon Middle School (featuring feeder elementary schools Julia Lee Moore and Theodore Jones).

  • April 16, 2024, at Ruth Doyle Middle School (featuring feeder elementary schools Woodrow Cummins and Ida Burns).

  • March 6, 2024, at the High School, where a combined meeting will take place for Junior High and High School Families.

The district encourages all stakeholders to attend and be a part of this ongoing dialogue to create a brighter future for all students.
