🎉 Welcome, Coach Huett! 🎉
We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Katy Huett to Ida Burns Elementary as our new P.E. Coach! 🐾💙
Coach Huett joins us from the classroom at Theodore Jones Elementary, bringing 11 years of teaching experience across first through fourth grades. A proud Conway native and lifelong Wampus Cat, she’s excited to bring her passion for movement and learning to our gym!
Coach Huett describes herself as funny, outgoing, and full of energy — and she’s all about helping students stay active while supporting their academic growth. Her belief in the power of learning through movement is sure to make P.E. a highlight of every Wampus Cat’s day!
"I’m thrilled to join the Ida Burns team and can’t wait to meet our amazing students and families in August!"
🎤 Fun Fact: A childhood video of Coach Huett forgetting her lines during an elementary school musical once aired on America’s Funniest Home Videos! (She says her eyes got as big as bowling balls — we believe it!)
Help us give Coach Huett a warm Wampus Cat welcome — we’re so lucky to have her join the IB family!

🌟 Welcome, Mrs. Ferrebee! 🌟
We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Ferrebee as the new Assistant Principal of Ida Burns Elementary! 🐾💙
Mrs. Ferrebee brings 15 years of experience in education across Arkansas and Texas. She has taught kindergarten through second grade, served as an instructional facilitator for K–5, and supported students through roles including 504 coordinator and RTI committee member. She also holds an Ed.S. in Building Level Leadership and is passionate about helping students and teachers thrive.
But what truly makes this homecoming special is Mrs. Ferrebee’s connection to Ida Burns. In her own words:
"In 2009, I had the privilege of being placed at Ida Burns for my senior internship. That year, I fell in love with not only teaching, but also the students and families of this community. When I saw there was an opening, I wanted to return to where it all began! As I am stepping into this new role, I still feel the same welcoming spirit that was there 16 years ago. I am excited to work alongside Mrs. Howell, the teachers, and staff in serving the Ida Burns community!"
🎉 Fun Fact: She has a mini horse named Pumpkin! 🐴🧡
Please help us give Mrs. Ferrebee a warm Wampus Cat welcome — we’re so lucky to have her back where it all began!

We want to say thank you to Secretary Oliva and his team for taking time to stop by Ida Burns today! It was a treat for them to see our Enrichment Day, and spend time in the Skydome and Human Body exhibits. We also want to thank Arkansas State Representative Stephen Meeks for spending his day in the Skydome with our students teaching them all about our solar system.

🎓💙 Honoring a Legacy of Service 💙🎓
Conway Public Schools celebrated our 2025 retirees yesterday with a special luncheon recognizing 25 incredible individuals who have dedicated their lives to education—some with over 36 years of service to CPSD!
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Collum shared words of gratitude and encouragement, reminding retirees that they’ve “run the race well,” made a lasting difference, and have an exciting new chapter ahead.
👏 To those who attended—and those who couldn’t—thank you for your years of service. You will always be part of the Wampus Cat Family!
