This weekend, our principals, district leaders, SROs spent their time serving at the Pine Street Backpack Program—helping prepare supplies so students can start the year ready to learn. 📚🎒

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: CPSD and local authorities will be conducting a crisis and safety drill at Conway High School today starting at 8:30am. CHS campus will be closed to the public until 3:30pm.

As a reminder, CPSD students are expected to follow our “Bell to Bell, No Cell” expectations during the school day.

📌 A student is not considered to be in possession of a personal electronic device if:

• It’s stored in their bag (and not accessed),

• It’s stored in a locker (and not accessed), or

• It’s stored in their vehicle (and not accessed) — except as permitted by law.

📲 Follow-up for Infractions:

• 1️⃣ First Violation: Device Confiscation, Warning, Parent Contact, Student Pick-Up

• 2️⃣ Second Violation: Device Confiscation, Parent Contact, Detention, Parent Pick-Up

• 3️⃣ Third Violation: Device Confiscation, Parent Meeting, Saturday School/In-School Suspension, Parent Pick-Up

• 🚨 Additional Violations: Device Confiscation, Parent Meeting, ISS/OSS, Parent Pick-Up

Yesterday, our very own Kait Smith, CPSD District Teacher of the Year, was recognized at the Governor’s Mansion as one of the Top 15 Finalists for Arkansas Teacher of the Year! 🏆🍎

She was joined by her husband and members of the Conway High School administrative team as she was celebrated for her incredible work in education. 💙

We are so proud of Mrs. Smith and the way she represents Conway Public Schools with excellence, passion, and heart. Her dedication to students and commitment to learning continue to make a powerful impact—both in the classroom and across our district.

📣 Help us welcome Ms. Shanda New as our new Director of Programs and Accountability for Conway Public Schools!

Ms. New has served as Principal of Marguerite Vann Elementary since 2022 and brings 30 years of experience in education—including roles in teaching, administration, and higher education. A former science teacher and school leader in Texas, Ms. New moved to Conway in 2005 and has made a lasting impact both at Central Baptist College and within CPSD.

CPSD is excited for her to begin this new chapter supporting districtwide programs and student success!
