🌟 A National Honor for One of Our Own! 🌟 In January, it was announced that Ms. Blake Tinsley, Conway High School teacher, was selected to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)—the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government specifically for K–12 STEM educators. 🏅 We celebrated Ms. Tinsley at our February Conway School Board Meeting, and just last week, she was formally recognized by the Arkansas Department of Education at the State Board Meeting in Little Rock. 📍 This prestigious award reflects Ms. Tinsley's outstanding teaching, innovation, and dedication to student success in science and mathematics. 🏆 We are thrilled to share that two incredible teachers from Carl Stuart Middle School have been selected as 2025 Mental Health Champion Award recipients by Arisa Health! 💙 Congratulations to Jonathan Gunsolus and Charles “Chuck” German, who were chosen out of more than 110 educators nominated across dozens of Arkansas counties for their unwavering dedication to student well-being. Mr. Gunsolus, "Mr. G", was recognized for his deep connections with students, his leadership in the D3 (Discipline, Determination, Dreams) program, and the way he encourages and supports students daily—whether it’s mentoring, playing soccer, gardening, or simply being a listening ear. Mr. German was honored for his years of mentorship work, founding both the D3 and G3 programs that now impact nearly 200 students with the help of 10 staff mentors. His focus on character development, community service, and leadership has made a powerful and lasting difference on campus. 🌟Wampus Cat Wednesday: Where Are They Now 🌟 Meet Joey Slayton, proud member of the Conway High Class of 1989! Joey is still rooted right here in Conway, serving and protecting the next generation of Wampus Cats as a School Resource Officer at Marguerite Vann and Carl Stuart Middle School. He's been with the Conway Police Department since 2012 and began his work as an SRO in 2014—giving back to the same district that helped shape him. His favorite CPSD memories? ⚾ Winning the State Baseball Championship in 1989 🧰 Auto mechanics class 🚪 Wooden lockers and getting lost in the old building! Some personal highlights include being named All-State, earning his brick at the field, and passing Mr. Owens’ history class! He also made lifelong friendships that still matter today. Joey gives a shoutout to some unforgettable teachers—Coach Boucher, Coach Leuders, and Mr. Owens—who each played a role in his journey. His advice to today’s students is simple but powerful: “Treat others with respect. The Golden Rule is still one that works. Embrace silence to get away from the noise. Get outside and off the screen. Live every day to the fullest.” And one last reflection? “I didn’t care much about school back then—my dad had to make a deal with me just to go to college. But looking back, high school was one of the highlights of my life.
