🌟 Wampus Cat Wednesday: Where Are They Now? 🌟 This week, we’re proud to spotlight Sarah Wilson, Class of 1998! Sarah is still living in Conway, where she serves as the Program Director for the Conway Ministry Center, a local non-profit dedicated to assisting individuals and families in crisis, such as housing insecurity and homelessness. School Memories: Sarah loved being involved in student council, FBLA, and drama club, engaging with her fellow students and making lasting memories. Personal Highlights: Winning the middle school spelling bee remains one of Sarah’s favorite moments! Favorite Teachers: Mrs. Rosa Abernathy at Florence Mattison Elementary, with Mrs. Trawick, Mrs. Hooten, and Mrs. Doolin closely following. Advice for Students: “Don’t wait for the right career to come along—it will change a million times! The festival announced over $140,000 in charitable giving—supporting students, schools, and families across Central Arkansas. 🙌🐸 Superintendent Dr. Jeff Collum was proud to accept the following on behalf of the district! 🎓 Conway Public Schools is incredibly thankful to receive: ➡️ $10,000 for the Toad Suck Daze Emerging Scholars Program ➡️ $3,140 to support our district-wide STEAM Night ➡️ $10,000 to the Conway Public Schools Foundation, whose work makes a major impact for our teachers and classrooms! 🌟 Wampus Cat Wednesday: Where Are They Now? 🌟 This week, we’re excited to spotlight Jacklyn Tufu (Quinit), Class of 2015! Jacklyn lives in Conway and works as an Occupational Therapist at Conway Regional Hospital and Orthopedic Clinic. She and her husband, Anthony Tufu, recently opened Aira Fitness, where they help people reach their fitness goals. School Memories: As a volleyball player and track athlete, Jacklyn developed the determination and work ethic that still drives her today. Personal Highlights: The education she received at CPSD made her transition into college and even graduate school smooth, teaching her valuable study techniques. Favorite Teacher: Coach Crow was a great mentor, always pushing Jacklyn to be the best version of herself. 🎉 CPSD Receives $2,500 Grant for Backpack Food Program! 🎒🍎 Conway Public Schools has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Arkansas Community Foundation to support our backpack food program! This initiative helps fight food insecurity by providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals for students to take home. A huge thank you to Ms. Lani Jennings-Hall, board member of the Arkansas Community Foundation, for visiting and presenting this generous donation to our district and building leaders. 🙌 These funds will go toward purchasing food items and backpacks, ensuring that more students have consistent access to healthy meals outside of school hours. Jackson works as an engineer in Tulsa, OK, specializing in solar power installation and EV charging infrastructure projects. School Memories: He has fond memories of his teachers cheering him on and encouraging a spirit of inquiry. Jackson appreciated how the school nurtured his curiosity and allowed him to explore various interests, from music and theatre to debate and writing. He now recognizes that these experiences were just as important as his academic achievements, shaping him into the well-rounded individual he is today. Personal Highlights: Jackson cherishes his time in All-State Band and Jazz, as well as playing Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. Favorite Teacher: Senora Steele, whom he hopes is enjoying retirement.
