📢🎶 The Conway High & Junior High School Choirs are proud to announce that several of their talented students have earned coveted spots in the prestigious American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Honor Choir 🎤✨, which took place this past week in Dallas, Texas 🇺🇸. These exceptional students joined other outstanding young singers from across the country to perform in one of the most esteemed choral events in the nation. 🎼 The ACDA National Honor Choir provides a unique opportunity for top-tier student vocalists to work with renowned conductors 👨‍🎤🎵, rehearse challenging music 🎶, and perform at a national level 🌟. 🌟 Wampus Cat Wednesday: Where Are They Now? 🌟 This week, we’re excited to spotlight Tamara Heard, Class of 2010! Tamara has been teaching and coaching for eight years and is currently at North Little Rock Middle School, teaching Career Exploration and coaching basketball and track. Previously, she was an assistant basketball coach at Jacksonville High School, where her team won conference championships two years in a row. School Memories: Tamara loved building great relationships with teachers, enjoying pep rallies, and having fun with friends. Personal Highlights: Winning the basketball championship in 2008 and conference championships in a newly built arena were standout moments. Favorite Teachers: Coach Janet Taylor and Coach Irons were significant influences during her time at CPSD. Abigail went to UACCM right out of high school, initially unsure of her career path. Now, she’s in her second semester of the Registered Nursing program at Baptist Health College in Little Rock and has fallen in love with nursing, eagerly looking forward to the future! School Memories: Having attended Conway Public Schools from kindergarten through senior year, Abigail made lasting friendships and enjoyed her time with great teachers. Personal Highlights: The infamous 2016 senior prank is a memorable highlight! Favorite Teacher: Mr. Wimberly, whose chemistry class Abigail always looked forward to. 🌟 Wampus Cat Wednesday: Where Are They Now? 🌟 This week, we’re excited to spotlight Mary Poppelreiter, Class of 2005! Mary currently lives in Maumelle, AR, with her husband, Brian. After graduating from Conway High, she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from UCA. Mary has worked in several Arkansas cities and is now the Head 8th Grade Band Director at Conway Junior High School and Woodwind Specialist at Bob & Betty Courtway Middle School. School Memories: Band and choir were Mary’s creative outlets throughout her years at CPSD, where she made lasting memories through rehearsals, performances, and trips. Personal Highlights: She was part of the ASBOA All-State Symphonic Band, performed in the Spring Musicals, and visited Disney World with the CHS Band, sparking her love for travel. She’s now visited 13 countries with her husband. Favorite Teachers: All of her band and choir directors, including Tim & Jan Cunningham, Todd Johnson, Dewayne Wilson, and others, had a profound impact. Advice for Students: “Find an elective, sports team, or student organization/club to join!
