Conway High School’s Key Club members just returned from their District Leadership Conference, where they competed against clubs from across Missouri and Arkansas—and brought home some big honors! 🎉
The club earned 1st place for their 100-page scrapbook highlighting the incredible work they’ve done this year, as well as 2nd place in Major Emphasis, which recognizes a club’s year-long service focus. This year’s emphasis was supporting Conway’s youth.
Over the past year, CHS Key Club members completed 16 service projects and contributed 948 hours of service to Conway athletic programs, middle schools, elementary schools, Kiwanis, and Community Connections.
Two members also served on the district executive board this year: Heidy Hernandez Lagos as Secretary and Nicole Reynolds as District 9 Lieutenant Governor. These students helped organize a three-day conference for more than 250 students from across two states!

On Saturday, March 14, the Conway High School Chess Team earned 2nd place at the Regional Championship hosted by the Chess Association for Arkansas Schools (C.A.A.S.)!
Congratulations to Ian Lee-Kim, Bronx Burton, Akhil Vinta, Bobby Batson, Asrith Kavi, and Will Schlientz (not pictured) for their outstanding performance. Their strong showing at regionals has earned them a spot at the State Championship in April!

Huge congrats to the Conway HS Concert and Chamber Orchestras, under the direction of Dr. James and Mr. Buck! They both earned Superior ratings on stage and in sight-reading from their adjudicators at the Arkansas South Region Orchestra Concert Assessment. The event was hosted this past Tuesday at Mills HS in Little Rock. These students worked hard and represented Conway well!

The Academic All American award recognizes high school students who have earned the degree of Superior Distinction within the NSDA Honor Society by competing in speech and debate events at tournaments; completed at least 5 semesters of high school; demonstrated outstanding character and leadership; and earned a GPA of 3.7 or higher. Fewer than 2% of National Speech & Debate Association student members earn the Academic All American award every year. This honor is an indicator of Joshua’s academic achievement and competitive success.

Several teachers have international roots — including Colombia and China — and many have lived, studied, or worked abroad. From careers in international logistics to building Chinese language programs and organizing Lunar New Year celebrations in Faulkner County, their real-world experiences enrich every lesson.
They hold multiple bachelor’s and master’s degrees, advanced certifications, international diplomas, and even National Board Certification. 🏅
When asked to describe learning a new language, they chose words like:
