School Closure Announcement All Conway Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, out of caution for the safety of our students and staff. Schedule for February 25th: 11th Graders – ACT Testing: All Juniors will be taking the ACT. Juniors need their student ID or Driver's License for the ACT Students who plan to check out after completing their section of the test must be on the check-out list and are required to sign out at the front office. Parents are encouraged to call the day before to add their student's name to the check-out list. If you choose to wait till the 25th to add your student to the check-out list, call early to help with the volume of phone calls. 10th Graders: Excused to work on community service hours. 12th Graders: Excused for a college visit or career day. Reminder: Students participating in college visits, career visits, or community service will be excused from school. We encourage them not to be on campus that day.

✨ Black History Spotlight ✨ With 30 years in education, Ms. Anita Cegers-Coleman’s love for learning began in childhood, inspired by a family of educators and a passion for school that never faded. Her mother’s story of a caring teacher who made a lasting impact sparked her own desire to inspire generations of students. Ms. Cegers-Coleman proudly carries on her family’s legacy of education, following in the footsteps of her greatest mentor—her mother, Linda Cegers, a dedicated teacher of 43 years. Her career highlights include: 📚 National Board Certified Teacher (2010) 🏫 Conway District Teacher of the Year (2016) 🏅 State Teacher of the Year Regional Finalist One moment she holds close to her heart is being honored alongside Alicia Cox at the 2019 Dig Pink event, celebrating their strength as breast cancer survivors, surrounded by a supportive school and community. Her guiding lesson to every student? 💛 Even though we’re human, and sometimes things don’t go the way we’d like—always choose kindness. 🎉 Lunar New Year Celebration at the Faulkner County Library 🎉 On Saturday, February 1st, the Conway High School Asian Club, in collaboration with the Faulkner County Library, local Chinese community members, and the UCA Center for Chinese Language and Culture, hosted Conway’s first-ever Lunar New Year Celebration. Approximately 400 attendees participated in the event, enjoying various interactive stations such as dumpling-making, calligraphy, crafts, two wishing trees, traditional dress-ups, and more. It was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, learn about Chinese culture, and celebrate the Year of the Snake. Special thanks go to the Faulkner County Library for providing the space and support to bring this idea to life. Appreciation is extended to the dedicated team of 18 student volunteers from Conway High School and Conway Junior High School and over 20 adult volunteers, including parents and local Asian community members, for their hard work and enthusiasm. We are also deeply grateful for the generous donation from Velda Lueders, Realtor – Coldwell Banker RPM Group, in support of the Chinese program in Conway Public Schools. Special thanks to the five local restaurants that came together to feed our volunteers: Mulan’s Chinese Buffet & Sushi, the Mighty Crab Conway, Wing Station, Fuji Japanese Steakhouse, and Shimmery Donut. Events like this reflect the vibrant cultural diversity in our community and the growing interest in Chinese culture and language. Our three unified pickleball teams played their hearts out and brought home 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal! ✨ Black History Spotlight ✨ With 13 years in education, Brittany Lovelace was inspired to teach after growing up without having a teacher of color from K-12. The desire to create representation for African American students and be a role model they could relate to led Ms. Lovelace to the classroom. What keeps them motivated? The joy of watching students grow, mastering new concepts, and flourishing in ways they never thought possible. A key influence in their journey was Dr. Paxton, a college professor whose kindness extended beyond the classroom, always checking in to ensure students were thriving both academically and personally. Recognized as Teacher of the Week and certified in both photography and computer science, Ms. Lovelace has embraced every challenge, including the unforgettable experience of teaching through COVID—a time of growth, resilience, and survival.
