🎶 Conway High School Band Earns Top Honors at State Contest! 🎶

The Conway High School Band’s Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band delivered outstanding performances at the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association’s State Concert Contest on Tuesday, April 14th in Cabot.

After winning the DD-7A (2nd bands) classification last year, the Symphonic Band returned as the Honor Ensemble this year—earning a 1st Division Rating. As the Honor Ensemble, they were not eligible for ranked competition, but their performance once again showcased their excellence.

The Wind Symphony performed in Class 7A (1st bands), earning a 1st Division Rating and being named State Runner-Up “Reserve Honor Ensemble” for the second consecutive year—an incredible achievement!

The Conway High School Band continues to stand out as one of the most decorated programs in the state, known for its superior musicianship and artistry.

📍 The attached photos highlight their recent performance at the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the UCA campus.

👏 Congratulations to all of these talented students on their continued success! #WampusCatPride #CHSBand #ExcellenceInMusic

Conway High School’s Young Democrats had the opportunity to hear from a special guest at their Tuesday, April 7 meeting—State Senator Fred Love.

Sen. Love spoke with students about a wide range of topics, including education and economic issues, key legislation impacting Arkansas, and his decision to run for governor. Students were also able to ask thoughtful questions and engage in meaningful discussion about the future of our state.

We appreciate Sen. Love for taking the time to connect with our students and encourage civic engagement!

🔬🎓 Exploring the Future of Science & Healthcare! 🎓🔬

Ms. Bowden’s UACCM Concurrent Microbiology students recently had an incredible opportunity to visit University of Central Arkansas for a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at college-level science and healthcare programs.

During their visit, students met with Dr. Kari Naylor, microbiologist, who led a tour of the life sciences labs and student spaces while sharing insights into college life and how to get involved in undergraduate research. Students also participated in a two-hour lab experience where they practiced key microbiology skills—identifying bacterial cell morphology and endospores using staining techniques and microscopy with samples they had previously collected.

The day continued with a visit to the nursing simulation lab, where Dr. Susan Gatto introduced students to "high-fidelity manikins" and discussed pathways into the nursing program and career opportunities in the field. Students also connected with Dr. Chris Ryan from Occupational Therapy, along with guest speakers from Physical Therapy and Speech Pathology, who shared valuable information about their programs, acceptance criteria, and career paths.

This immersive experience gave students a meaningful glimpse into future possibilities in science, healthcare, and beyond. Thank you to everyone at UCA who made this day so impactful!

The Wampus Cat yearbook program has earned the Jostens 2026 National Yearbook Program of Excellence award at the Silver Level. This year marks the 80th edition of the school's yearbook and the 10th consecutive year that the program has received this national honor. Under the direction of adviser Jamie Bratton and editors Anna Liles, Sylvia King, and Lauren Simpson, the staff is nationally recognized as a program that creates an inclusive book which reflects the entire student body. 🎻✨ Big congratulations to our incredible orchestra students! ✨🎻

The Conway High School Concert and Chamber Orchestras recently traveled to Bluebonnet Classic Festival in San Antonio, where they delivered outstanding performances on Friday afternoon.

Both groups earned Superior ratings along with Outstanding Ensemble awards from their panel of adjudicators—an amazing accomplishment that reflects their hard work and dedication! 👏

They had the opportunity to perform in the stunning Lila Cockrell Theatre and also explored the rich history of the area with a visit to The Alamo.
