🌎✈️ Hispanic Heritage Month in ELL World History

Ms. Dunn’s students went on a “trip around the world” without leaving the classroom! They picked up passports 🛂, ID badges 🏷️, and tour bags 🎒 before visiting stations to explore different countries, practice English 🗣️✍️, answer questions, and get their passports stamped ✅.

They also enjoyed authentic snacks 🍫🥖🍍 along the way! Tomorrow, they’ll wrap up their journey with a “shopping experience” 🛍️ using Monopoly money—sharing one thing they learned while picking out souvenirs.

A huge thank-you to Ms. Smith’s students for building the amazing displays that made this event so special! 💫

🎻✨ Our CHS Chamber Orchestra spent the weekend spreading music all across the Conway community!

🎉 On Friday night, they took the stage at Conway150, helping celebrate our city’s 150th birthday with a beautiful performance on the Kris Allen Stage in downtown Simon Park.

🎨 Then on Saturday morning, these talented musicians performed again at ArtsFest 2025, a free community event hosted by the Conway Alliance for the Arts at Fifth Avenue Park.

💙 What an amazing opportunity to share their music with friends, family, and community members — and to live out our Core Value of Cultivating Community Relationships!

🌎✨ Last week, on October 3rd, our AP Spanish classes had the pleasure of welcoming three special guests — Mrs. Kaitlin Smith, Mrs. Lourdes Goodnight, and Mrs. Judith Mendez!

Mrs. Smith spoke about the value of being bilingual and how she wishes she could speak another language fluently. 💬 Mrs. Goodnight shared her experience growing up as a Puerto Rican student in New York, where speaking her native language was once prohibited — and how proud she is today to be bilingual. ❤️ Mrs. Mendez, a former teacher from Argentina, told students about her life in both Mexico and Argentina, her Mexican-Argentinian blended family, and the educational system in Argentina. 📚✈️

To wrap up the visit, students enjoyed a Q&A session and even got to try Argentinian candy 🍬— a sweet way to end such an inspiring cultural exchange! 💫

📖 Mrs. Smith's Junior English students are reading and analyzing The Crucible, a 1953 play by American author Arthur Miller. ⚖️🔥

For each Act, students select a part to read—and to help them visualize the characters and the 1692 setting, they enjoy ed wearing Puritan costumes 👒🧥 befitting each character's personality and description! 🎭✨

💀🎨✨ In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, four students from Señor Escalante's Spanish class visited Ms. Milner’s Drawing II class to present on the traditional Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos! 🪦🌺 Students learned about the holiday’s history, cultural meanings, and traditions—including its connection to popular culture, like Disney's Coco 🎬🎶.

Drawing II students took visual notes and practiced the grid transfer method by drawing calaveras, or sugar skulls. They’ve now begun creating altered self-portraits featuring traditional calavera designs and colors 🎨🖌️. A selection of these final portraits will be displayed for Día de los Muertos on November 2!
