🎮 CHS is proud to announce that nine student-athletes from the Wampus Cat Esports program have been offered collegiate scholarships to continue their competitive gaming careers! 🎓💪

The offers come from Hendrix College Esports, an official NCAA Division III program competing in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), led by Coach Jordan Toland. 🏆🎯

“This is a landmark moment for our program,” said Conway High Esports Coach Brad Goodnight. “Our players have shown incredible dedication, teamwork, and resilience. To see that effort rewarded with scholarship opportunities at the collegiate level proves that Esports is opening real doors for students’ futures.” 💬✨

This marks the largest group of Conway High Esports athletes to receive scholarship offers at one time! 🙌
CHS congratulates these student-athletes on their achievements and looks forward to watching them continue their success at the next level! 💙🐾💻

Recently, Ms. Sinsley’s Statistics students took learning around the world—literally! Using small globe beach balls, they estimated the proportion of Earth covered by water. 🌊

In groups of 4–7, students tossed the globes and recorded whether their fingers landed on water or land. Then the whole class joined in for even more trials! 🌍

Their estimates ranged from 54% to 70% water—pretty close to the true value of 71%. That’s hands-on learning at its best! 👏📈

📊😄 Statistics meets tongue twisters!

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, our Stats students put their linear regression skills to the test in a hilarious hands-on activity! Students gathered bivariate data by timing how long it took different group sizes to say tricky tongue twisters — and ended the day with the entire class joining in together.

There were lots of laughs, smiles, and data points as they learned how to analyze relationships between variables in a fun, memorable way.

Try it yourself!

🌎✨ On October 8th, students from UCA visited our AP Spanish classes to share their experiences learning Spanish and how being bilingual has positively impacted their lives!

They explored exciting opportunities for bilingual students — from scholarships and study abroad programs to future career paths — and shared their favorite UCA classes and experiences.

Our CHS Spanish students loved asking questions and seeing firsthand how learning another language can open doors to the world! 💬📚

🧪💥 AP Chemistry in action! During ATLAS testing, Mrs. Penn’s students used their Academic Workshop time to explore what affects the rate of reaction — and the iodine clock experiment definitely kept things exciting! ⚗️ This classic chemistry demo changes color right before your eyes as different factors speed up or slow down the reaction. 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Members of Mrs. Tillery-Harris's EMR class generously volunteered their time to support Conway Regional’s annual men’s prostate screening event. The students played an integral role in welcoming patients and facilitating a smooth experience by assisting with the completion of required forms. Additionally, they provided compassionate guidance by escorting patients to the designated areas within the hospital, ensuring comfort and clarity throughout the process. Their active engagement and dedication significantly contributed to the success of this important community health initiative.

In Mrs. Chen’s Chinese classes, students celebrated Moon Festival 🌕 — one of the most important festivals in China and several other Asian countries. As part of the celebration, students learned about the festival’s history, traditions, and legend 📜, then enjoyed a hands-on experience making snow skin mooncakes 🥮!
Students in Chinese 3 and AP Chinese further practiced by retelling the process of mooncake making in Chinese, using newly learned vocabulary and grammar to strengthen their language skills.
Huge thanks to Velda Lueders Realtor Coldwell Banker RPM Group - Conway AR, for her generous donation that makes the enrichment activities of the Chinese program possible throughout the year!
