CHS Speech & Debate Team members Addison Choate (junior), Elyse Ortega (senior), and Ian Lee-Kim (junior) traveled to Lexington, Kentucky to compete at the prestigious University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions. Each student has to earn 2 bids to compete at UKTOC and the competition brings the best of the United States’ high school speech and debate competitors together for 3 days of intense competition. Addison, Elyse and Ian did a wonderful job representing Conway High School and the state of Arkansas during this competition. Elyse competed at UKTOC for her 2nd year in a row in Program of Oral Interpretation, Addison competed in Informative Speaking, and Ian competed in Congressional Debate. Congratulations to these students on their hard work and dedication that led them to compete at UKTOC. CHS Speech & Debate students are coached by Mrs. Casey Griffith.
Congratulations to the CHS Speech & Debate Team for their success at the 2025 Arkansas State Championships Tournament! To compete at the State Tournament, students had to qualify throughout the year at sanctioned tournaments in Arkansas. The ASC tournament brings together the best speech and debate students across Arkansas to compete for state titles. The CHS team brought home 12 state awards: 4 state champion titles and 8 state finalist awards! The CHS Speech & Debate Team is coached by Mrs. Casey Griffith.

Tavic Summerville (Senior): 4th place Finalist in Novice Congressional Debate.

We got to hear words of wisdom from local entrepreneur, Joseph Gainor, about the success and growth of the CHS ESL program from Ms. Lourdes Goodnight, and individual celebrations of each graduate from CHS 2025 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Kait Smith! The love for our students was tangible in the room last night, and we are so grateful for all who showed up to help us celebrate these special students.

In January, it was announced that Ms. Blake Tinsley, Conway High School teacher, was selected to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)—the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government specifically for K–12 STEM educators. 🏅
We celebrated Ms. Tinsley at our February Conway School Board Meeting, and just last week, she was formally recognized by the Arkansas Department of Education at the State Board Meeting in Little Rock. 📍
This prestigious award reflects Ms. Tinsley's outstanding teaching, innovation, and dedication to student success in science and mathematics. We are beyond proud to have her represent Conway Public Schools at the national level! 💙👏

Last Friday, students from Mrs. Chen's Chinese classes visited UCA to celebrate UN Chinese Language Day! 🀄 They had the opportunity to connect with Chinese professors and CHS alumni who are now majoring or minoring in Chinese at UCA. Highlights of the visit included a fun Chinese Jeopardy game with college students and a delicious Chinese lunch provided by UCA. It was a wonderful day of language learning, cultural exchange, and inspiration for students exploring the Chinese language and culture! 🚍🌏✨💯
