Congratulations to CHS Junior, Ian Lee-Kim for being named a National Speech & Debate Association’s Academic All American! The Academic All American award recognizes high school students who have earned the degree of Superior Distinction within the NSDA Honor Society by competing in speech and debate events at tournaments; completed at least 5 semesters of high school; demonstrated outstanding character and leadership; and earned a GPA of 3.7 or higher. Fewer than 2% of National Speech & Debate Association student members earn the Academic All American award every year. This honor is an indicator of Ian’s academic achievement and competitive success. Ian is a 2-year member of the CHS Speech & Debate team and has competed across the state of Arkansas and Philadelphia. Ian competes in Congressional Debate, Mock Trial, Student Congress and Original Oratory. Ian will be competing in Congressional debate at the University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions tournament and is a 2025 National Speech & Debate Association National Tournament qualifier for Arkansas in Original Oratory. Ian is also a 2025 Arkansas State Championships tournament qualifier. Ian has competed on the CHS Mock Trial teams in both the Arkansas High School Mock Trial tournament 2025 and the Empire Mock Trial Philadelphia tournament 2024.

Caring Cats held their first Annual Faculty VS Student Basketball game on April 11th! We had a Great turn out and appreciate all our Faculty participation! The Unified Basketball team came out on top of the Faculty but it was a hard fought game!!

Conway High School VEX Robotics Team “Lucky Ducks” 32174B Earns Spot at VEX Robotics World Championship Conway, AR – The Conway High School VEX Robotics Team, known as the Lucky Ducks Team 32174B, has earned a prestigious invitation to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, May 6–8. This hardworking and innovative team, led by Ian Mendez-Sosa and Brody Mercer, demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the season. Team members include Ethan Brock, Bowen Cathcart, Seth Chesshire, Dustyn Free, Asrith Kavi, Dylan Mercer, Jeffrey Tan, and Anthony Ye. These dedicated students competed fiercely at the Arkansas State Tournament on March 15, where they faced off against the top robotics teams from across the state. After a long day of intense qualifying matches, the Lucky Ducks advanced to the Tournament Finals, where they earned the title of Tournament Finalists. Their performance, in alliance with Team Hephaestus from Bryant, secured their coveted invitation to compete on the international stage in Dallas. The team extends sincere thanks to Conway High School, supportive parents, and their coaches for providing the resources, encouragement, and mentorship that helped make this achievement possible. The Lucky Ducks are now gearing up for the World Championship, ready to represent Conway with pride, creativity, and competitive spirit on the global stage.

Congratulations to Elyse Ortega and Ian Lee-Kim, members of the CHS Speech & Debate Team. They have qualified to represent Arkansas at the National Speech & Debate Association’s National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. Only two students per event are able to represent Arkansas at the national tournament, having to qualify at the NSDA Arkansas District tournament. Elyse qualified in Program of Oral Interpretation for the 2nd year. Ian qualified in Original Oratory (persuasive speech).
