🎭✨ Meet the Cast of Willy Wonka! ✨🎭 🍫 Caleb Hunt (Mr. Beauregarde) – A CHS senior and seasoned Conway Musical veteran, Caleb takes the stage for his third show with the program! A true triple threat, he’s also a talented member of the CHS band and choir. Beyond the arts, Caleb is actively involved in Black Student Union and Student Council. 🍭 Lyn McKissick (Violet Beauregarde) – Making her CHS stage debut, Lyn steps into the spotlight as Violet! While new to this stage, she’s no stranger to theatre—you can see her in Legally Blonde Jr. at Red Curtain Theatre in April and as Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors in May. 📢 Pi Day Fun at CHS! 🥧🏃‍♂️✨ CHS Math Club members and friends celebrated Pi Day on March 14 with a Pi Day Pi K! 🌟 Although storms kept us indoors (so no one actually ran 3.14km 😅), the fun didn’t stop! Congratulations to CHS Junior, Addison Choate, for being named a National Speech & Debate Association’s Academic All American! The Academic All American award recognizes high school students who have earned the degree of Superior Distinction within the NSDA Honor Society by competing in speech and debate events at tournaments; completed at least 5 semesters of high school; demonstrated outstanding character and leadership; and earned a GPA of 3.7 or higher. Fewer than 2% of National Speech & Debate Association student members earn the Academic All American award every year. This honor is an indicator of Addison’s academic achievement and competitive success. Addison is a 2-year member of the CHS Speech & Debate team and has competed across the state of Arkansas, along with tournaments in Louisiana and Philadelphia. Addison competes in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Informative Speaking and Congressional debate. She has qualified to compete at the University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions (Lexington, KY) in April. Addison is also an Arkansas State Championships tournament qualifier. Addison has competed on the CHS Mock Trial teams in both the Arkansas High School Mock Trial tournament (2024 & 2025) and the Empire Mock Trial Philadelphia tournament (2024).

Congratulations to CHS Senior, Elyse Ortega, for being named a National Speech & Debate Association All State recipient. The NSDA All State award is given each year to the top overall points earners in each State, of which no more than 25% can come from service points. In order to qualify, a student must have competed at least once at the NSDA National Tournament. Elyse is a 2-year member of the CHS Speech & Debate team and competes in Program of Oral Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation (both English & Spanish), Prose Interpretation, Storytelling and Humorous Interpretation. In 2024, Elyse qualified and competed in the Arkansas State Championships, University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions (Lexington, KY), and the NSDA National Tournament (Des Moines, IA). Elyse was also a member of the CHS Mock Trial teams for both the Empire Philadelphia and the Arkansas High School Mock Trial tournaments. She will be traveling to Lexington, KY in April to once again compete in the UKTOC tournament and she has qualified for the Arkansas State Championships in POI, Poetry, Prose and Storytelling. Elyse will be attending Central Baptist College in the fall.

🌿🔬 AP Bio Takes on Science & Nature! 🔬🌿 Last week, Ms. Bowden’s AP Biology students took an exciting field trip to the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) & FDA facility in Jefferson, AR! 🏛️🔎 They explored careers in biology, chemistry, and physics while learning how scientists conduct research to ensure the safety of the foods and drugs we use every day. The Conway High School Orchestra had an incredible, educational clinic workshop with the faculty at Oklahoma City University last weekend. They also attended an Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra concert, featuring world-renowned violinist Sarah Chang, on a great program of all-German music. While in town they also went to Science Museum Oklahoma and got to see some of the city. What a great trip!
