Stradling | 6th Grade Math | Analyze Level Thinking
Students analyzed a chart of numbers 1-100. We discussed our observations (prime numbers have a solid ring around them, even numbers all have an orange piece, multiples of five have blue pieces, etc) and our questions (why aren’t 2, 3, 5, and 7 red like the other prime numbers?). Each period’s discussion was different because students found so many different patterns and connections about the rings around the numbers.
This was an ideal lesson for all levels of students because the observations made could be simple or complex.

Ms. Miller | 7th Grade Math | Thinking at the Evaluate Level: Critiquing
Learners were given a set of expressions and worked collaboratively to label each part, including the coefficient, variable, constant, term, and exponent. They completed guided notes and practice focused on the characteristics of like terms, highlighting important information and using different colors to encourage active learning and support visual learners and ELLs. Learners then identified whether expressions were like terms and justified their answers using the established criteria.

Ms. Jackson | Math | Think-Pair-Share
During my math lesson on multiplying decimals, students used the Think–Pair–Share strategy to deepen their understanding. First, students thought independently about how to solve the problem. Then, they worked with a partner to share ideas, solve the problems together, and compare their work. Finally, pairs shared their strategies and solutions aloud with the whole class. This process encouraged collaboration, mathematical reasoning, and confidence when explaining their thinking.

In her role as a data analyst, Alex searches for patterns in data. Through engaging activities and real-world examples, she showed our students how to observe a data set and quickly identify patterns that could signal a scam. She also shared an important message about the evolving world of AI—that even as technology advances, people behind the machines will always be essential.
Alex emphasized how vital women are in this new age of technology. Without diverse representation, bias can appear in artificially intelligent systems. What a privilege it was to have her model for our G3 girls just how powerful and important women in STEM truly are! ✨👩💻🔬
