Mrs. Bri Irvin’s DoodleBirds club had loads of fun with today’s craft! They each designed papel picado pieces to create banners to decorate the hallways for Hispanic Heritage Month. Papel picado is a traditional Mexican craft that involves cutting intricate designs into colorful tissue paper. This art form dates back to the 16th century and symbolizes the beauty and fragility of life. Each design often reflects themes of nature, celebrations, and cultural heritage, making it a perfect way to honor this special month. Hispanic Heritage Month SPECIAL EVENT will be on October 11th. Students will enjoy a lunchtime Fiesta! Las Delicias will have paletas -- delicious ice cream/popcicle treats for sale! Order forms will go home Monday, 10/7/24! Student will enjoy music, games, and more! More info to follow! Send $3 for a treat, order forms due Wednesday, October 9th. Students may purchase on Friday as long as supplies last. Canned Food Drive Competition - CSMS will be collecting goods for Soul Food Cafe. Current Soul Food Cafe helps to provide weekly food backpacks to students in need at Carl Stuart as well as multiple area schools and they are in desperate need of donations. Any donated items will be accepted and greatly appreciated. Students will turn items into their 2nd period class. The class with the most donations in each grade will win a donut party. Items in need are: Macaroni and cheese, Beef Stew, Chili, Spaghetti Os, Ravioli, Vienna Sausages, Tuna Fish, Canned Chicken, Peanut butter, Soups, Poptarts, Protein Bars, Canned Vegetables with pop tops, Packets of instant Oatmeal, Small shelf juices and milk, Cereal (smaller boxes or bags). Boys Basketball Tryouts will be October 23-25 starting before school at 7:25 am and during1st period. See Coach Ellis for more information. Scholastic Book Fair October 7-17 A great way to give your child money is to set them up an eWallet. What is eWallet? No more bills stuffed in backpacks! At the Scholastic Book Fair, kids shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Fair. Family and friends contribute funds. Then kids choose their own books. It’s convenient, simple, and secure. How does it work? It starts on your school’s Book Fair homepage. A child’s family follows a link to create a free eWallet account. There are three ways to fund an account: Add money with a credit card, use funds from a previous eWallet, or invite friends and extended family to contribute.
