The Charlie May Simon book award began in 1971. This year there are 16 nominated books on the reading list. Students who are in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade who live in Arkansas and have read three books get to vote for their favorite in May. In order to get more students involved we had our first incentive this week. All students had to do was read one book on the list and answered questions on a Google form.

Congratulations to CSMS’s spelling bee winners! It took THIRTY-THREE rounds to determine the winner! Third place went to Aiden J. and second place was awarded to Elisabeth M. And… (drumroll, please) our first-place winner is…. Harper D.!! Way to go! We are very proud of all of our competitors. It takes a lot of studying and courage to compete in the spelling bee. The students who placed first and second place will be eligible to compete in the Faulkner County bee in January.

Carl Stuart Middle School has a great opportunity to host a MobilePack with Tacos 4 Life. This event will help pack 100,000 meals for children around the world. These events have been hosted around the state and have sent millions of meals.
We will be hosting this MobilePack on December 18th and 19th. Each grade will have a chance to pack meals. If any student wants to serve, they are required to return a signed permission slip. Either print off and return the attached permission slips or you can pick one up in the office.
In order for this to happen, we need parental assistance. You have multiple chances to do that. Just sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4DAEA62FAAFDC43-46380053-carl#/.

CSMS D3 Donates Presents for City of Hope Christmas Mall, continued.
#ChampionsForKids #celebratecsms

Our word of the month was Generous and man did our kids show out. D3 was able to raise over $1,600 through the peppermint wars at school! 5th grade won the competition with close to $1,000 raised. They will be enjoying a hot cocoa and cookie party next Monday!
Our students at Carl Stuart are so generous and provided over 60 presents for City of Hope Christmas Mall this year. We are very thankful to partner with Dr. Phillip Fletcher and support his mission to increase the lives of kids in our community.
Special thank you to Sam's Club and their donations for our Peppermint War party!
