Welcome our Principal Dr. Martin!!
Dr. Marci Martin brings more than 20 years of educational experience to her role as Principal. Throughout her career, she has served as an elementary classroom teacher for 13 years, an instructional facilitator for 6 years, and an assistant principal for the past 2 years.
A proud Conway native, Dr. Martin is a lifelong product of Conway Public Schools, having attended Conway schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Fun fact… she attended Sallie Cone Elementary– Kindergarten- Fifth grade!
Dr. Martin earned a Bachelor’s degree in P–4 Early Childhood Education, a Master’s degree in Gifted and Talented Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Martin is married to Gerard Martin, a counselor at Conway High School. Together, they are the proud parents of two daughters, Ella and Ava.

Fall Testing Cycle
Students currently in 3rd grade or above may be referred for Gifted & Talented consideration. A referral begins the evaluation process and does not guarantee identification.
A student may benefit from referral when they learn quickly and make meaningful connections, think deeply, creatively, or in unusual ways, show advanced reasoning, curiosity, or problem-solving, or need greater depth, complexity, or academic challenge.
No special preparation is needed. Gifted & Talented identification is based on multiple measures.

Mr. Johnson is in his fourth year serving as an Assistant Principal. He previously served as Dean of Students/Assistant Principal at Conway Junior High School and Assistant Principal at Preston and Florence Mattison Elementary. Prior to his leadership roles, he spent ten years teaching middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies at Bob & Betty Courtway Middle School.
Mr. Johnson is excited to join Sallie Cone as the new Assistant Principal.
Outside of education, he enjoys spending time with his two kids, Kaleb and Kynlei, traveling around the world, and collecting various shoes. He’s the proud owner of Shoe Junky Fitness, where he helps individuals achieve their health and fitness Mr. Johnson has a passion for serving students and believes that every child can learn regardless of their circumstances. One of his favorite quotes is, “Students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

I’m so excited to be spending my first year in education at Sallie Cone as a paraprofessional in left brain!
I’m currently in my graduate program for special education and I take so much pride in meeting all students where they are at so they can be successful.
Outside of the classroom, I love art, music, cycling, fishing with my wife, and anything else I can do with my hands. It’s going to be a great school year!

This year marks my 20th year in education, and I am thrilled to return to PreK, where it all begins. As an educator, I love seeing students grow as they build a strong foundation for learning and confidence; watching them succeed is an exciting experience.
