Upon receiving the report, district officials immediately activated established safety protocols and coordinated with local law enforcement and emergency personnel. The parents/guardians of the junior high students were notified immediately of the reported threat and they were updated in real-time regarding their students. Students and staff were kept safe while authorities conducted a thorough on-site investigation, including a sweep of the building by the bomb squad.
The bomb squad determined that no credible threat existed and the bomb squad cleared the building. The campus has been deemed safe for normal operations.
Parents/Guardians were given the option to pick up their students and students were able to return to the building today. Counseling support will be available for any students who may need assistance processing today’s events.
The matter remains under review by local law enforcement.
“All of our emergency procedures were implemented immediately, and the safety of our students and staff was never compromised,” said Jason Black, Superintendent of Conway Public School District. “We are grateful for the swift response of local law enforcement and emergency personnel and the cooperation of our students, staff, parents, and community.”
District officials followed established safety protocols throughout the incident.
