Conway High School’s Mock Trial Team recently competed in the Empire Mock Trial National Tournament in Philadelphia, PA. They competed in the inaugural Philadelphia Constitutional Classic against 32 teams from across the United States, Canada, and South Korea.
“At Empire, students compete against well-prepared mock trial teams, using a case that is topical, as well as legally and socially complex. Students return to their communities more equipped to tackle the challenges of our global society, and empowered to do so with greater knowledge and compassion.”
While at the tournament, students compete in 4 rounds of competition - 2 rounds as prosecution and 2 rounds as defense. Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and are judged for their knowledge and use of law, objections, case creation, characterization of witnesses, and overall application of court procedure.
The CHS Mock Trial Team finished with 4 wins and 11th in their division! Team members are: Elyse Ortega (witness), Wren Welky (attorney, witness), Cole Britt (attorney, witness), Addison Choate (attorney), Ian Lee-Kim (witness), Callie Wesbecher (attorney), Mustfa Zia (attorney). All are members of the CHS Speech & Debate team, coached by Mrs. Casey Griffith. Their attorney coach is Mr. Matt Brown.
While in Philadelphia, they were also able to tour historic sites such as: Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross House, Masonic Temple, Congress Hall, Benjamin Franklin’s grave, Ben Franklin National Memorial, the First Bank of the United States, and several other locations.

🎉 Guest Chef Spotlight: President Houston Davis of UCA! 🍕👨🍳
Conway Culinary Arts was excited to welcome President Houston Davis of the University of Central Arkansas as our November Guest Chef! 🎓✨
Together with our talented students, President Davis rolled up his sleeves to create custom pizzas from scratch—a true culinary masterpiece! 🍕👏 Using our new dough sheeter, purchased through the generous support of the CPS Foundation Grant, we crafted fresh, perfectly prepared pizza dough that set the foundation for some incredible creations. 🥖🧀🍅
From bold flavor combinations to teamwork in action, this experience was a slice of what makes our program so special. Thank you, President Davis, for joining us and inspiring our students with your passion for food and community!

Unfortunately the Lady Cats are having to cancel our Babysitting Night due to lack of interest. Thank you to those who signed up and we will be sending you a refund soon. #sixlegs
