This week during WIN time, Mrs. Willcutt and Mrs. Daniel’s students learned about pointillism. They used this method on a worm that coincides with the topic that they are covering in English. #RDMStrong

Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. Willcutt’s RDMS students had such a fantastic day! Special thanks to our Caring Cats, Mrs. Starr, Mr. Olson, Ms. Hood, and Ms. Darkis! Students decorated their own Easter egg hunting bag. They paused to eat their earned reward (PIZZA PARTY!!). Then the hunt was on! Caring cats did a wonderful job hiding over 200 eggs!

RDMS students, Seven and Cooper, showed a lot of determination and problem-solving skills to decipher a Rubik's Cube during WIN this week. Both started the week as beginners, but they both successfully navigated the challenge. Have you ever solved a Rubik's Cube?

Congratulations to the members of the RDMS chess team who competed in the Arch Ford chess tournament on Wednesday. Jacob Z and Sahi M both played well. Jacob finished in 5th place, and Sahi took home the 2nd place trophy in the 5th grade and under division. Finn A and Henry G played in the championship game of the 6th-grade tournament. In an exciting game that went back and forth, Henry secured a checkmate as time expired to win the tournament and give RDMS a first and second-place finish. Way to go!

In February, 6th graders Melanie, Henry, and Greer swept the Junior Historical Paper category at History Day Regionals, earning spots at the State competition. This weekend, all three students—along with their families—braved flash flooding to successfully present their papers to judges at UCA. Greer’s paper on The Lost Year in Little Rock earned the Special Arkansas History Prize, awarded by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies and the Central Arkansas Library System. Henry placed second in the STATE for his paper on the Newsboys Strike of 1899, qualifying him for the National History Day contest in Washington, D.C. this June! Congratulations to all three students on their outstanding achievements!
